Brotzeit Junior Chef@Work with Mommy Bloggers Philippines

Summer is synonymous to workshops.

This summer alone, my little learner is taking ballet, just finished swimming, and taking day workshops, like this recent one we attended in Brotzeit Shangrila Plaza.

We were welcomed with this banner.

Kinder Koche für den Tag! Kid Chef for the day. I miss speaking auf Deutsch!

And I missed Germany because of the overall feel of the restaurant.

Typical German Bier Bar. They serve Bavarian Cuisine. Oh yes, Munich.

Since it’s all about brot, or bread, I assume the kids were making bread. And they did. For starters, they made Brezn, or Pretzel. I let my little one work her way by herself, they had great instructors led by Chef Ivan.

My daughter did the entire process herself–from putting ingredients together, mixing the dough, rolling, shaping the Brezn.

From the oven to her mouth, these Cheese Brezn or Pretzels looked and tasted good. Lekker!

The “Graduates” with Chef Ivan. Great job, MBP kids!

The kids had loot bags from one of the sponsors, Toy Kingdom.

Mommies had our own loot, too, from Cusina Home. Watch out my review of this product, my new household dishwashing buddy!

The workshop was great exercise for the kids to acquire kitchen skills. It also taught them how to focus, following instructions, reading ingredients, waiting, keeping the workstation and their hands clean when preparing food. I must say, my kid learned a lot in this short time, and applied these skills at home (we both love baking!).

You can still have your kids experience this in Brotzeit, all Saturdays of May!

Active Fun Spooktacular Halloween Party

It’s that time of the year when my daughter plays dress up. No, we’re not into the scary/spooky type, but Halloween for us is more of a costume party, that’s meant to be fun.

And that’s what we exactly did about two weeks ago. We kicked off the Halloween week with Active Fun’s Spooktacular Halloween Party. Huge thanks go to Active Fun for extending this invitation to Mommy Bloggers Philippines.

My daughter had only one character in mind: Joy of Inside Out. She already had that in mind ever since watching the movie last July.

My joyful Joy! Thank you, blue washi tapes and yellow ball pit ball!

She wore the same costume (but a different dress this time) for three more parties the following week (doing another post for those parties).

We were there really early! We didn’t want to catch the Friday weekend traffic which starts early afternoon.

First two people we met: Sadness and the pirate-host. Sadness won a prize for being best in costume!

Sadness won a prize for being best in costume! Her mom told me that they’ve been joining for a couple of years already, but this is the first time that they’ve actually won a costume prize, so they were really happy. And they should be, there were a lot of prizes in store for the winners!

I liked how Active Fun grouped the costume categories, understanding that not all kids and parents might be up to something spooky. We were at the cute costume category. There was also a category for little princes and princesses, for spooky costumes, and for families dressing up in sync.

First up was the Trick or Treatin’ within the building. Some building tenants gave away candies and treats for the kids.

And that included Mathemagis. Was I a psychic? I knew Teacher Cherry would be downstairs to give away treats! Teacher Cherry is Aria’s most favourite Mathemagis teacher. She loves her teacher so much, we even thought of transferring to Mathemagis BGC because Teacher Cherry was reassigned there early this year.

Reunited. Happy surprise!

There was also a parade of costumes for the judges to see them, food and drinks, lots of giveaways, a magic show,

And Active Fun characters!

Thanks for that rockin' dancer who carried Aria!

Sesame Street won them the first prize. They also had other members in their group dressed up as Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, and Cookie Monster.

A cookie and two cuties. Sophia, daughter of Denise of Royal Domesticity and my little Aria. That was a DIY-ed cookie that made into the Working Mom Instagram. Cool!

Thank you, Active Fun, for this really fun treat!

Stay tuned in the blog for the rest of the Halloweek events we attended. It was a busy one for the family! Hope you had a meaningful Hallowtide with your loved ones.

REVIEW: Primomo Washable Crayons

We got some new crayons to try out, and give a review on. What fun it is to write on this blog!

Ready to unbox!
Ready to unbox!

Here they are, Primomo Washable Crayons made in Japan!

So, the crayons are supposed to be non-toxic, worry-free, and keeps hands clean. They are also washable, easy to hold, scented, and erasable. Time to put it in a test!

My daughter immediately drew a rainbow and some figures. She first asked me if they were donuts. And yes, they smell good!

She can hold it anyway she wants, but since she knows how to hold a pencil, she first found it funny to hold inside the ring. But she did well here!

Now, for the eraser test.

Eraser sample. The eraser came with the crayons, but I have not tried if you can use any type of eraser, though.

It got erased, right? Though I have not yet done it fully. I think I could have erased it more.

The product looks really safe to use and non-toxic. I also liked the texture of the crayon itself, and you won’t feel sticky after using it. Some crayons would have residue on your hands or paper after you use them.

Although, I think this crayon is just for the beginner child only. I don’t think this would work well in your adult colouring books because you might not control the grip well. This is a good product for your young child as he discovers and strengthens his fine motor skills by colouring.

Get these super safe crayons for your little ones at these branches. Available at selected Fully Booked or Toys R Us branches (click link for full list then pull down Primomo menu). It is also available online through Lazada.ph.

Thanks to Mommy Bloggers Philippines for letting us try these!

FoodPandaPH: Fast, fresh, favorite foods in your fingertips

Being condominium dwellers ourselves, food delivery is the next best thing to making our own food. Apart from the usual fast food delivery services, we always seek restaurants which delivery home-loved freshly cooked foods.

Good thing there’s Food Panda!

Food Panda Website

You can order through their hotline, but Mommy Bloggers Philippines had their members try this service online. So, they gave us vouchers!

It took me quite a while to choose a restaurant, because (1) not all stores deliver in your location and (2) not all stores accept vouchers. Luckily, one store does, Gerry’s Grill in Macapagal Avenue!

Ordering online was easy:

1. Choose your location.

2. Choose the restaurant that delivers to your location.

3. Place your orders. The cart will prompt you whether you have reached their minimum order bill. Check out what I got:

fpgerrys2
They accept vouchers, and has a small delivery fee!

4. For the remainder of the amount, I paid it upon delivery.

Fresh food at our doorstep! Gerry's Grill Chopsuey and Crispy Squidheads.

How would I describe their service?

Fast. Well, it really could have been faster if it were not a busy season like today was. It took the order about an hour and a half.

Fresh. Steaming hot, fresh food right at your doorstep, order placed with a touch of your fingertips (they have a phone application as well).

Favorite. Some of my favorite brands all in one place, without searching or memorizing all those hotlines. Here’s proof:

I ordered Yellow Cab last week. Unfortunately the vouchers were not accepted for this restaurant.

How could Food Panda be improved?

1. Vouchers should be accepted in all restaurants. They could be given as gifts, too!

2. More branches so that more restaurants can deliver to a wider location.

3. They should feed back 15 minutes after a customer has not received confirmation. I emailed them 30 minutes after placing my order because I did not receive any confirmation yet, but they were quick to reply.

Overall, it is a good service, so you should try it out as well.
