Lea Salonga says, “Magandang Araw!”

We kept on guessing who the new brand ambassador for Insular Life is, until the phrase “world-class Filipina” was mentioned. Only one name comes to mind — Lea Salonga. I kinda had a hint as I saw vans of a television network parked outside of the quaint Seda Hotel at Bonifacio Global City, where the press launch for this Filipino life insurance company was held.

As you may have seen in Insular Life’s TV commercials nowadays, Lea Salonga is the company’s first ever celebrity endorser.

Ginger of Manila Workshops and Mommy Ginger invited some mommy bloggers to this press launch last Friday. There, I was able to meet Mommy Glaiza of Moomy Musings and Mommy Milette of http://luckyfinds-shareapic.blogspot.com. I wanted to find out what this life insurance company has in store for its clients and prospective clients this year. As a mom myself, I am looking for the best options where to invest financially.

Lunch was served as the guests trickled in. While waiting for the start of the program, we were directed to two booths behind us: a coffee station and a laptop showing an AVP about their upcoming campaign website.

Two of Insular Life executives then spoke about their 2014 communications campaign and its components.

Jesus Alfonso Hofilena, EVP & Head of Sales and Marketing talked about the Positivism Campaign the company is promoting among its employees and clients

A website called MagandangAraw.com.ph which will be formally launched on January 20, will encourage people to do good deeds that exhibit positivism, write about them or upload photos of it in the website, and share their experiences through social media networks with the hashtags #InsularMovement and #MagandangAraw. Raffle prizes await the lucky positive movers.

An invitation for coffee and a live encounter with possible clients shall also take place. Here is where the Insular Life’s Magandang Araw Brew by Roaster Juan’s come in. This artisan coffee shall be served to possible clients or life insurance sellers.

Aside from spreading positivism, Lea stressed the importance of having a secure financial future for the family. Getting life insurance does not only mean securing yourself. It also means peace of mind for the people you love.

And this year, our family is set to do both — do more good deeds (specifically giving to charity more) and strengthen our family’s financial investments while our daughter is not yet in school.

I leave you with this song commissioned by Insular Life, “Isang Magandang Araw,” with lyrics by Rayna Vihuela Reyes and music composed and arranged by Mike Villegas. I hope it will spark positivism in you, too.

Touringkittyps: Five for the Event Planning Newbie

Happy New Year, everyone! Here’s wishing you all a rockin’ 2014!

I am introducing a new category here at the blog and it’s called Touringkittyps. And here is my first serving!

Some five years ago, I was planning our own wedding. I chose to do it ourselves so that everything we wanted will be followed by the detail.

But boy, oh, boy, it was hard. My husband and I both had full-time jobs and were also on top of a big church fund-raising event during that time. After the wedding, we only wished we hired a wedding coordinator to help us out. We even had to scout suppliers on our own, as we only managed to attend one wedding fair due to our very busy schedules.

So, here are five tips for the soon-to-be-weds or even those who have other upcoming events, like debuts and birthdays!

1. Know what you really, really want. It will be hard if you don’t, so, set your mind on an object, or a color, and revolve around it and only it! Pinterest has mood boards or inspiration boards to get you started. You can even work one of your own! I was then just set on two things: Pink and Hello Kitty, so I got all inspiration from there. Don’t worry, I only had a Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel cake topper and that’s the only Sanrio you could see during the wedding!

2. Make a checklist and check it not once, not twice, but everyday. Always set a goal to do one thing a day, like scouting for a supplier, doing an ocular of the venue, or listing possible invitees. Make sure also to tick that checklist so that you are sure you have done the task.

3. KISS: Keep it simple and stunning! Yes, I have a different meaning for KISS. Simple does not always mean less tasteful. Every event can be a happy and successful one if everything on it is just the way you wanted it.

4. Ask for help. You need it. When I was really stressed out as THE day got nearer, I got help from family and friends. They were most welcome to accommodate and so much more.

5. Scout for suppliers. Here comes all those wedding and debut fairs happening all around the metro. There is one happening this weekend!

Jazz up your Christmas Cards with Canva

Who likes to receive Christmas Cards? I know I do, and I like making my own, too.

Unlucky me, I do not have artists’ hands to draw, colour, and paint. And that’s when the computer is put in good use. Especially the good ol’ Microsoft Publisher (ya, call me old fashioned, but I do ALL things in that little program!). Then I can just print the cards and they’re ready to be given away.

But technology has made the work of postmen so yesterday. We all do send emails and e-cards as they call it. I do, too, especially when it’s Christmas.

Luckily, I discovered a design website where you can make your Christmas Cards easy, fun, and free!

You read it right.

FREE!

Design your Christmas Cards at Canva, a new, easy to use, design website which can cater to your specific design needs like blog graphics, Facebook covers, presentations, and others.

And since it is the season of giving, Your Royal Kittyness, Touringkitty, is giving away FREE $10 credit which you can use for upgrading your designs by using more images over at Canva. Isn’t it cool?

Head over to this link to claim your gift. I made my own which I have shared over at the Touringkitty Facebook Page.

Choicest blessings to your family this wonderful season!
